The ball mill is an indispensable equipment in mineral processing plant, so it is very important to ensure the efficiency and service life of the ball mill. As an important part of the ball mill, the ball mill liner can not only effectively protect the barrel of the ball mill, but also improve the impact and peeling between the medium and the material.
However, under the long-term operation of the grinding medium, the liner of the ball mill generally wears too fast. So what are the reasons that cause the ball mill liner to wear too fast? How should we improve?
1. Mutual wear between the ball mill liner and the steel ball
The ball mill liner and the steel ball are both vulnerable parts. During the grinding process, the ball mill liner and the steel ball and the material will collide with each other and produce friction. In continuous operation, the ball mill liner and steel balls will experience serious wear, which is directly related to the hardness of the material. The greater the hardness of the material, the faster the wear rate of the ball mill liner and steel balls, which may cause equipment damage or even safety accidents in severe cases.
In addition, it is also related to the steel ball of the ball mill. The size of the steel ball and the number of steel balls will affect the service life of the ball mill liner. If you increase the amount of steel balls or fill steel balls with larger diameters during the operation of the ball mill, it will increase the wear of the liner of the ball mill.
Coping method: Reasonable selection of ball mill liner and steel balls is one of the main ways to reduce the over-wear of the liner.
2. The material of the ball mill liner is unreasonable
The material of the ball mill liner and its heat treatment process are the key to determining the mechanical properties of the liner. If the liner material is not properly selected, its fatigue strength and life will be greatly reduced, not only cannot meet the requirements of the ball mill, but also plastic deformation or bulging may occur.
Coping method: Choose new wear-resistant liner materials. Currently, the commonly used ball mill liner materials include high manganese steel, high chromium steel, alloy steel, and wear-resistant rubber etc.
3. The heat treatment process of the ball mill liner is unreasonable
The unreasonable heat treatment of the ball mill liner will not only increase the wear of the liner, but also affect the yield strength of the liner. In actual operations, the staff lacked knowledge of the material of the liner, and insufficient heat treatment of the liner of the ball mill, so the strengthening effect of the liner of the ball mill was not enough. Therefore, plastic deformation often occurred when hit by steel balls and materials.
Coping method: Pretreatment of the liner of the ball mill can effectively reduce the degree of wear of the liner of the ball mill. The appropriate pretreatment process can be selected according to the material of the liner.
4. The ball mill is not operating normally
The abnormal operation of the ball mill will also bring adverse effects to the liner of the ball mill. When the ball mill is in normal operation, the steel ball is mixed with the material. When the steel ball is thrown into the lining board, a barrier will be formed between the steel ball and the material, which will play a buffer role and gradually grind the material fine.
If the ball mill is operating under low load, the steel balls will directly impact the liner, causing serious wear and even breakage of the liner of the ball mill.
Coping method: Relevant staff should understand the operating status of the ball mill and control the operating status of the ball mill. When the ball mill is operating under low load, the ore intake of the ball mill should be adjusted in time to ensure the grindability of the material.
In addition to the four reasons, the design, manufacture and installation of the liner of the ball mill are also one of the reasons that affect the excessive wear of the liner of the ball mill. In order to improve the efficiency of the use of the liner of the ball mill, it is necessary to analyze the reasons for the wear of the liner to formulate a reasonable solution.
